‘At night time you want something to do, something to look forward to’
Access Sport, in partnership with Chain Reaction Cycles, has launched a five day BMX Roadshow that will tour across five Olympic host boroughs during the February half-term next week. The individual events will offer free BMX coaching and mark the launch of a new BMX time-trial race series across the capital. The BMX Roadshow is part of Access Sport’s BMX Legacy Project to create a new wave of BMX
participation in London.
With the support of gold medal favourite Shanaze Reade, Boris Johnson, British Cycling, the five host boroughs and Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, Access Sport is helping to deliver a tangible legacy of the Olympic Games by establishing five new BMX clubs and tracks in five of the Olympic host boroughs.
Following the Olympic Games, an international standard BMX track will be open to the public – these new volunteer-led, community clubs will ensure the facility has a lasting legacy.
Chain Reaction Cycles, the world’s largest online bicycle retailer, is supporting the new BMX clubs by donating equipment, prizes and goodie bags for each of the Roadshow’s events.
The schedule will run as follows:

Joe McTague, Project Manager at Access Sport – the charity organising the events – said that these events will provide invaluable publicity for the clubs and the work that Access Sport is doing in deprived areas of London. He said “The BMX Roadshow will act as a launch pad for the exciting work we will do with the BMX clubs in 2012.
“The five new clubs have recently established a London BMX Forum and this Roadshow will mark the beginning of a new BMX time-trial race series, something that has never been seen before.
“The support of Chain Reaction Cycles will provide invaluable publicity for the clubs, helping them to attract new members and develop into sustainable community clubs.”
