What is SportsJAM?

SportsJAM is an event involving at least 15 community clubs across different sports which we are working with in a particular city. Taking place in a central city location, SportsJAM involves each of the clubs putting on a ‘come and try session’ within a sports zone run by the club coaches. The aim of the day is to introduce children to each of the clubs across the city so they can become long term members and regularly participate at the club. All children attending receive a free goody bag and leave with details of how to join the sports clubs and meet Access Sport sports ambassadors.

  • In each city our SportsJAM festival acts as the launch pad for our club support programmes.
  • SportsJAM aligns all the key agencies around a mass participation launch event which typically attracts 3,000 local people to taste a wide range of sports in one city centre location.
  • SportsJAM is a free event hosted by Access Sport ambassadors including David James, Rebecca Romero, James Cracknell etc
  • Behind the fun these festivals are critical for lining up local initiatives behind a common goal and raising the profile of community sport.
  • They signal the start of a sustainable two year engagement process.

Bradley Wiggins“For me London 2012 will not be what it should be if grass roots events like SportsJAM don’t happen.”
