On the 3rd August 2010 Access Sport presented Sports JAM!

It was a JAM packed day of fun, taster sessions, demos and a whole load of laughs! SportsJAM gives you an opportunity to come and try out over 10 different sports, run by highly skilled local community clubs. It also gives you the opportunity to meet and see Access Sport ambassadors, from the world of professional sport.

It is a free event and everyone who attended received a free Goody bag along with details of how to get involved with the host Sports Clubs. This year it wasstaged at Mile End Park Stadium, run alongside Tower Hamlets School Sports Partnership’s unique Neighbourhood Games.

CHARITY ORGANISED SPORTS JAM EVENT IN MILE END IS FAMILY FUN DAY OUT FOR ALL TO ENJOY

Opportunity for young people to enjoy numerous sports in free to attend charity sport event

July  12th 2010, London, UK:  Access Sport today announced the staging of SportsJAM on August 3rd 2010 at Mile End Stadium, Tower Hamlets. Sports JAM is a free community sports event, organised by London based Charity, Access Sport, and is designed to promote youth participation in sports, by acting as an energiser for local sports clubs.

Fun for all the family

The SportsJAM Mile End Event will take place in on August 3rd in conjunction with the Neighbourhood Games run by the Tower Hamlets School Sports Partnership and is supported by the Lloyds of London Community Foundation.  SportsJAM will showcase local clubs and a broad range of sports throughout the day. SportsJAM will showcase local clubs and a broad range of sports throughout the day. The Sports Zone allows participants to try out and increase their skills with coaching in various sports including football, cycling, boxing and basketball. The Skill Zone and the Competition Zone gives the opportunity to see local teams demonstrate their skills and then take part in fun challenges for all the family.  Above all SportsJAM brings to life the benefits of sports in a fun and accessible environment.

 

In the run up to 2012 Access Sport plans to support 50 clubs with cash and advice in the 5 Olympic Boroughs with SportsJAM as the awareness raiser to help to transform community sporting opportunities for young people.  Access Sport targets areas of disadvantage, using sport as a powerful youth development tool to fulfil their mission of transforming young lives through sport and to help deliver Olympic legacy.

Chris Zah, Team GB athletics coach (Victoria Park and Tower Hamlets AC) said “SportsJAM is just brilliant - so many kids having a great time, trying out new sports like canoeing, Parkour, boxing and judo. It opens their eyes to what is here locally and gives the clubs a tremendous boost.”

Access Sport ambassadors include international footballers, Olympic and World Champions such as David James, Rebecca Romero, Jermaine Jenas and Bradley Wiggins. Their support for the charity and at SportsJAM aims to inspire young people to try out new sports and become regularly involved at local clubs.
