#FlyerzWeek 2019 is here! From the 13-9th May, we introduce a new theme each day to celebrate Flyerz Hockey, raise awareness and encourage new hockey clubs to join the movement!

Access Sport is funded by Spirit of 2012 to develop Flyerz Hockey across England and Wales. Our Flyerz hockey project will target disabled people who face the additional challenge of growing up in poverty, providing them with inclusive hockey activity.

Our aim is to support 50 new inclusive Flyerz sections by 2021 across England, Wales and Scotland. The project is supported by England Hockey, Hockey Wales, Scottish Hockey, the European Hockey Federation and World Hockey Federation.

#FlyerzWeek is a week-long social media campaign that aims to raise the visibility of Flyerz hockey and demonstrate that achieving inclusion is practically achievable and highly rewarding. This year’s campaign will have a clear call to action for hockey clubs – we want every club to think about setting up their own Flyerz section and to actively engage disabled people in their clubs!

In 2018, the campaign reached 569,205 people on Twitter, with 3,051,218 impressions. This allowed us to start conversations with a number of new clubs, many of whom now run their own Flyerz section.

This year’s #FlyerzWeek will be bigger and better than ever; there will be a different theme every day, a Q&A with Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh on Tuesday 14th 7-8pm, a #FlyerzWeekChallenge, and live action from the National Flyerz Festival on Sunday 19th May.

#FlyerzWeek Themes:

Monday- Introduction to Flyerz Hockey

Tuesday-Flyerz ambassadors and champions

Wednesday- Flyerz in the community

Thursday- Flyerz values

Friday- Coaching and Volunteering

Saturday- Club Day

Sunday- ParaHockey
