On Friday 3rd December, Olympic BMX medallists Charlotte Worthington and Declan Brooks took part in a unique livestream video games event, to support Access Sport’s ground-breaking BMX programme as part of the Jingle Jam 2021.

The event saw Charlotte and Declan link up with content creators The Yogscast, who are hosts of the world’s biggest charity games event known as the Jingle Jam.

Meeting at the London studios of publisher, Curve Games, Charlotte, Declan and The Yogscast spent the afternoon playing three video games provided by Curve: Embr, Just Die Already and Pumped BMX Pro, whilst chatting about Access Sport’s BMX programme and their recent Olympic success.

Before the event Charlotte said:

I can’t wait to take part in the Jingle Jam with The Yogscast! It’s the first time I’ve done a video games live stream and I’m really looking forward to it, especially knowing it’s going to help raise millions of pounds for charity, including Access Sport which is close to my heart. BMX can be such a force for good, especially for young people who might be struggling – please do tune in and support us, so we can change as many lives as possible.

Access Sport is one of 14 charities benefitting from this year’s Jingle Jam, which ran from 1st - 14th December 2021. Access Sport will use funds raised to expand its ground-breaking BMX programme, transforming 2,000 young people's mental health in the process.

Curve Games has donated a selection of their titles to supporters of this year’s Jingle Jam, forming part of the incredible Jingle Jam Games Collection.

Julian Barrell, Access Sport Deputy CEO, says:

Access Sport’s BMX programme offers disadvantaged young people and those in need of mental health support the opportunity to learn to cycle while enjoying the thrill of BMX. By building new community BMX tracks and setting up new volunteer-run BMX clubs, the programme is a proven way to get whole communities cycling and as such is also seen as an important part of helping communities rebuild after the Covid-19 pandemic. We are delighted to be a chosen charity for this year’s Jingle Jam and we’re looking forward to connecting the incredible Jingle Jam community with our BMX cycling programme.

Charlotte and Declan were quick to get into the games and enjoyed chatting with hosts Lewis and Ben from The Yogscast. Unsurprisingly they left nobody in doubt that they had the real-life skills to back up their moves on Pumped BMX Pro!

John Clark, CEO of Curve Games, says:

Curve is committed to supporting brilliant charities that are championing life-changing causes. We’re thrilled to be working with Access Sport to promote this year’s Jingle Jam, and to be joined by Charlotte and Declan to play Embr and Just Die Already with Yogscast on their live stream.

Access Sport would like to thank The Yogscast, Curve Games, Charlotte Worthington and Declan Brooks for their support.
