Access Sport welcome Matthew Dawson as the charity's very first Honorary Patron, to celebrate his remarkable achievements and support!

Matthew Dawson, an IT Director, embarked on an incredible physical challenge in aid of Access Sport:
3 Peaks, 2 Wheels & a Speedo.

This 3 peaks challenge (with a twist!) was an incredible test of endurance; over four days Matt and his three colleagues, James, Richard and Jolyon, climbed the highest peak in Wales (Snowdon), England (Scafell Pike), and Scotland (Ben Nevis), cycled over 400 miles between those peaks and swam a chilly 2km in the nearby lakes. On top of this, Matt and his team battled busy dual carriageways, wheel breakages, and the predictably unpredictable English weather, making this already demanding challenge, ever more testing. But despite heavy downpours, moments of zero-visibility, and rough waters, the team conquered their incredible challenge in just 4 days, raising over £3,000 for Access Sport along the way!

You can read Matt's full report here.

Matthew certainly isn't afraid of setting tough challenges for himself, and in recent years he has raised well over £10,000 for Access Sport, through a variety of amazing (some might even call them, crazy!) tests of endurance...

Matthew's support for Access Sport first began in 2013 when he embarked on a solo swim of the English Channel, followed by a two day (non-stop) 125 mile canoe last summer. But Matthew hasn't always been a sports endurance super fan. In his Superpowers not needed TEDx talk published in 2016, Matthew describes his own personal journey from an unhealthy 20-something to an accomplished endurance sportsman, sharing an honest account of his testing swim across the Channel.

We are incredibly grateful to have received such amazing support from Matthew, who truly believes that sport can change lives and that it should be a basic right for everyone from all backgrounds.

Thank you and welcome to the team, Matt!
