Little Hulton Community Pump Track was finished in June 2021 and was officially opened on Thursday 19th August. The track has been incredibly popular with locals since it was completed in June, with up to 60 people using the track each day.

The track is an exciting place for people of all ages and abilities to go and ride their bikes, scooters and skateboards showing how inclusive and accessible the track truly is.

The track was built by specialists Architrail Velosolutions as part of Access Sport's Making Trax Programme. Little Hulton Community Pump track is a unique and distinctive design, offering a wide range of riding options, through a variety of berms, rollers and jumps that can be ridden by riders of all ages and abilities. It is also surrounded by a flat path which can be used by those who are learning to ride.

The track is open for the public to use recreationally until 9pm every day, and floodlights installed onsite ensure that this will be possible all year round. The facility has also been supplied with all essential equipment housed within two containers.

This equipment enables regular organised sessions on the track, including open rock up and ride sessions, after school community sessions, female specific BMXercise, disability inclusive Wingz sessions, as well as outreach sessions with local schools, organisations and community groups. The aim is for Little Hulton Community Pump Track to become a thriving cycling hub providing a wide range of accessible and inclusive activities for all in the community.

A Crowdfunder initiative in May raised just over £15,000 which will be spent on running specialist 'learn to ride' programmes for disabled young people to give them the confident to get out and ride a bike.

After a couple of months of recreational use of the facility and as restrictions lifted, Access Sport hosted the official launch of Little Hulton Community Pump Track on Thursday 19th August. The launch enabled 24 young people to ride the track and engage in the speeches and ribbon cutting, alongside key partners and funders who have been involved in the development of the facility along the way. These included; Little Hulton Big Local, Salford City Council, London Marathon Charitable Trust and British Cycling, with distinguished guests; City Mayor of Salford Paul Dennett, Sir Rodney Walker (LMCT) and High Sheriff Diane Hawkins. We are delighted that the track is now officially open and can continue to be an exciting place for those in the community to ride their bikes.

I wish all those involved great success. Thank you to the support of Access Sport, Salford Council, Little Hulton Big Local, London Marathon Charitable Trust, The Booth Charities, and the Places to Ride Programme which is being delivered by British Cycling, Sport England and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) who enabled this outstanding facility to be developed in Little Hulton, Salford.
