In the Easter holidays, Billy who regularly attends the Down Syndrome Football Club completed work experience with Access Sport at a Warmley Wheelers cycling club. He was actively involved in the day, cycling, photographing and videoing the course, posting on social media and also learning about bike maintenance.

As Access Sport frequently attend the club sessions, the relationships between the team, participants and parents have developed very well, which has enabled this fantastic opportunity for young Billy.

Obtaining an insight into the young people’s lives at the clubs is so important, as it means opportunities such as work experience can be provided. Opportunities like this help young disabled people to become better equipped with vital work based skills and help to improve their future employability prospects.

I really enjoyed the day I helped with at Warmley Wheelers. The best part was fixing the bikes. I liked using the tools and I had a ride on lots of different bikes. Thank you for having me!” - Billy
