Mark Hardie, our Chief Executive since 2010, is stepping down from CEO in the summer of 2021 and will take up the position of honorary Ambassador for the Charity.

Mark joined Access Sport initially as a volunteer in 2008 before becoming the charity’s first full time Chief Executive soon after. Throughout the past 11 years Mark has passionately led our drive to tackle deep-rooted social inequalities by enabling community sports organisations to reach out and engage under-served young people. Under his leadership the charity has grown ten-fold and developed programmes and projects that have real national impact – such as the Making Trax cycling inclusion programme and our disability inclusion programme including Flyerz Hockey. He has built true partnerships with organisations ranging from Sport England to British Cycling to local authorities and private sector organisations, all the while ensuring the charity remains rooted in local delivery, working to support volunteers at local community sports organisations in deprived communities.

We wish Mark all the best with the next chapter of his life and thank him for leaving the charity in such a strong position.

The appointment of Mark’s successor will also bring new opportunity for Access Sport

We are seeking an equally passionate and determined leader to ignite the next phase of our charity’s growth, building on all that has been achieved to date. We have a long-term vision that no one should be excluded from the simple opportunity of playing sport local to their home and we have a highly committed group of staff, volunteers and trustees who are united behind this vision and our current growth strategy to 2025.

We therefore look forward to identifying and appointing our next Chief Executive who will take us forward into our next chapter. If this might be you please visit our recruitment page here:
