ULTRA CHALLENGES 2021

ULTRA CHALLENGES ARE BACK FOR 2021!

The Ultra Challenge series has an exciting line up of 13 Covid-secure events for 2021. With a proven model in place they've been given the green light for all of the challenges to re-start so you can enjoy some safe ultra endurance fun! You can take a look at some of the precautions at a Covid safe event here.




WHAT IS AN ULTRA CHALLENGE?

Are you a regular walker and new to endurance events? Perhaps a seasoned trekker looking for testing adventures? Or even a marathon runner wanting to 'up' your distance? Whether it's along magnificent coastal scenery, or in stunning open countryside, there’s an Ultra Challenge for you.  

Walk, Jog or Run at your pace at the Ultra Challenge Series event of your choice. Join 25,000 others, of all ages and experience, in 2020 for an unforgettable Challenge. It will be rewarding, fun, and absolutely achievable with your resolve and determination alongside first class support.

Push yourself further with one of our 12 great events in 2020 - 100km Full Challenge, with 50km & 25km options also available.


CHOOSE YOUR CHALLENGE:

EASTER 50 CHALLENGE - SAT 10 APRIL 2021

Windsor - 50 km or 25 km

From the Windsor Racecourse base-camp, you can Walk, Jog or Run looped routes through the Great Park with views of the Castle, along the Thames Path, and enjoy some wonderful surrounding countryside. You’ll get a few post Easter surprises, a finishers meal – and it’s a great event to kick off the 2021 season.

ISLE OF WIGHT CHALLENGE - 01/02 MAY 2021

Take on the Coastal Path

A fabulous setting for an unforgettable challenge, with spectacular cliffs, iconic Needles, stunning views, and sandy beaches. The historic towns of Cowes, Bembridge and Ventnor are en-route for the full 106 km challenge, and with half & quarter distance options –  there’s an Island challenge for everyone!

JURASSIC COAST CHALLENGE - 15/16 MAY 2021

World famous coastline

Spectacular World Heritage coastline, with a Poole Harbour start, across to Swanage, on to Corfe Castle, past Durdle Door, with ups & downs to Weymouth at half way. For 100 km challengers, it’s past Portland Bill, Chesil Beach, and on to West Bay’s cliffs (of TV’s Broadchurch ) – before a finish line celebration in the vibrant Dorset town of Bridport.

LONDON 2 BRIGHTON CHALLENGE - 29/30 MAY 2021

The Classic Capital to Coast

The original Ultra Challenge, now in its 10th year, with a varied 60% off-road route. It’s a Richmond start by the Thames, then the North Downs and some wonderful Surrey & Sussex countryside. The Full 100 km challenge heads over the South Downs before the welcome sight of the Brighton coastline comes in to view. It really is a classic challenge!

LAKE DISTRICT CHALLENGE - 12/13 JUNE 2021

Magical English scenery

Take on & enjoy some of England’s finest countryside and scenery at your pace. From the Kendal base camp it’s a 100 km anticlockwise loop taking in a few tough hills & fells, Ambleside, Lake Windermere at half way, nature reserves, and forests  – with stunning views en-route. A huge welcome awaits back at base-camp after a momentous challenge!

COTSWOLD WAY CHALLENGE - 26/27 JUNE 2021

New - Cirencester 100 km loop

It’s a revised route from the base-camp in Cirencester – the ‘capital’ of the Cotswolds. Now it’s not only fabulous views, villages, and rolling hills – it’s easy to access, fewer road crossings, and there’s pre-event accommodation – so it’s better than ever! A testing challenge, with a few tough climbs, but it rewards with a real sense of achievement.

PEAK DISTRICT CHALLENGE - 03/04 JULY 2021

Bakewell Base camp loop

Once again they’ll welcome 2,500 adventurers into the fabulous Peak District National Park, and the major ‘Base Camp’ hub set-up in idyllic Bakewell, with a full range of camping options & hospitality. The full 100 km Challenge takes in a tough & varied figure of 8 route through Derbyshire’s finest scenery with wonderful views.

SOUTH WEST COAST 2 COAST CHALLENGE - 25/26 JULY 2021

Cross the SW Peninsular!

A ‘Coast to Coast’ Challenge in England’s South West. It’s 102 km from Minehead in Somerset on the south bank of the Bristol Channel, down to the seaside town of Dawlish on Devon’s south coast. In between there’re the ups & downs of Exmoor, some fabulous views, the meandering Exe Valley, and the City of Exeter.

SOUTH COAST CHALLENGE - 04/05 SEPTEMBER 2021

The South Downs Way

Take on some of England’s finest scenery with an Eastbourne start, up Beachy Head, over the magnificent Seven Sisters, and along the famous South Downs Way, with stunning views over the sea, to Brighton at half way. Devil’s Dyke, and a few ups & downs all lie ahead before historic Arundel comes into view after an amazing 100 km journey.

THAMES PATH CHALLENGE - 11/12 SEPTEMBER 2021

Putney Bridge to Henley

Take on England’s greatest river with a 100km route heading out from Putney Bridge, past Hampton Court to Runnymede, of Magna Carta fame, at 50km. On to Windsor and then past wonderful historic scenery & countryside all the way to Henley. With half & quarter distance options – there’s a Thames Path Challenge for everyone!

THAMES BRIDGES TREK - 11 SEPTEMBER 2021

25 km, 16 historic bridges

Venture across the Capital with unrivalled views of the skyline. Setting out from Putney Bridge – it’s East towards the City, zig-zagging over 16 historic bridges – each with its own fascinating story, and a mid-point stop at The Oval for some snacks & drinks. 25km later it’s a finish line celebration in Southwark past the majestic Tower Bridge.

CHILTERN 50 CHALLENGE - 25 SEPTEMBER 2021

50 km Henley looped route

The end of season 50 km / 25 km takes in some of the best of the Chilterns countryside, with historic trails, nature reserves, forests, and a few hills with fantastic views. Starting & finishing at the base-camp in Henley, there’s a Saturday night celebration BBQ & entertainment, with extensive on-site camping & parking options.
