Flyerz is Access Sport’s inclusive hockey initiative, working with hockey clubs across the uk to add an inclusive provision. The Flyerz sessions are fun, friendly and inclusive of all abilities and enable disabled and non disabled players to play together.

The Dan Smith Fund has supported the Flyerz project to expand by funding the first Flyerz Club in the area with Harborne Hockey Club. They will be the first to run Access Sport’s disability-inclusive ‘Flyerz’ initiative, enabling local disabled children and young people to enjoy playing hockey with their peers.

Funds donated from the Dan Smith Fund have been used to support new disabled participants to join the club with five new junior Flyerz already joining. The funds have enabled the purchase of new sticks, larger balls, and are supporting a trip to Dublin in October 2021 for eight Flyerz players to join an international game against disabled Irish players – providing a fun and hugely important developmental experience for all involved!

Funding has also been provided to enable Wakefield Flyerz to join the same trip, giving disabled players from West Yorkshire the same opportunity to travel and play together in Dublin.
