On 1 May, 80 special guests gathered in Manchester for Access Sport's Transforming Young Lives Dinner.

Local partners and supporters joined us at King Street Townhouse to celebrate our 20th Anniversary and the impact we have on underserved young people across the region.

There was a real feeling of excitement on the evening, with a clear sense that our Manchester supporters were ready to do whatever it took to get young people in the area active, happy and thriving!

The Transforming Young Lives Dinner was raising funds for ‘Develop’ one of our amazing 20 for 20 projects.

Develop will see us support 20 new community sport clubs across Greater Manchester, transforming some of the most deprived communities in the country. To showcase the impact of this project, we premiered an inspiring case study film that focused on Partington Community Centre in Trafford. You can watch the full video by clicking on the link below.

All of the money raised on the night will support us as we work to ensure that no young person in Manchester is overlooked when it comes to accessing the transformational benefits of sport.

Hosted by Olympic Gold medalist, Helen Richardson-Walsh and Elite Performance Coach, Ric Moylan, the evening also featured a range of passionate speeches from our special guests, including:

  • Boxing champion and broadcaster Stacey Copeland
  • International speaker, author and co-host of the High Performance Podcast Damian Hughes
  • Founder of Moss Side Fire Station Boxing Club, Nigel Travis
  • Manchester's volunteer of the year, Malachy Lees.

It was fascinating to hear Stacey Copeland and Damian Hughes talk about their careers and how high performance is personal to each individual. Nigel and Malachy also gave our guests two awe-inspiring personal accounts of using community sport to change lives!

Thank you to our hosts for the evening, our special guests and everyone who attended. We appreciate your continued support!
