Your support this festive season will also have a direct impact on disabled young people’s lives, like Joseph in London. Joseph is 8 years old and has a hearing impairment, ADHD and is often overlooked when it comes to sport.

Having not regularly participated in sport, Joseph came to our SISPAN Active Together Festival in early 2022 where he tried lots of different sports and activities. Since then, Joseph has attended a sitting volleyball club and has become a regular participant in an inclusive karate session in Southwark.

Joseph’s mum highlighted the positive impact these sessions have had on her son, as well as the patience and understanding shown by his inclusive community coaches.

“He really enjoys the Access Sport sessions because he can try different sports with the understanding from the instructors that he will not follow the entire sessions to plan. The sessions are having a positive impact as he can try different things without being judged and can meet new friends.”
