Access Sport is asking community sports clubs to support our Building Stronger Communities research

Take the survey

To support Access Sport’s research into how inclusive sport can build stronger communities, we are asking community sports clubs to participate in a short survey.

Organised in partnership with Bath University, this project aims to explore how our Changing Places and Changing Sports programmes support underserved communities to become stronger, more cohesive and interconnected.

Sport and physical activity have been identified by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport as a way to build stronger communities because of its ability to bring people from different backgrounds together1. There is also strong evidence that community hubs and community development improves social relations, as well as individual and community wellbeing2.

This is reflected in our work with sports clubs, where we have seen communities transformed through the power of sport. For example, in the 2021 evaluation of our Flyerz hockey programme, carried out by Loughborough University, we found that 87% of participants experienced increased mental wellbeing.

By participating in this survey you can help us to tailor our programmes so that we can better support local disabled and disadvantaged young people.

How to support this project

We are asking parents/carers and their children/young people who attend a community sports club to complete a short survey.

The survey is anonymous and takes less than five minutes to complete.

Once you have completed the survey you will be allowed to enter a prize draw. By entering the prize draw you will have the chance to win one of eight One4All vouchers, worth £30, which can be used in over 130 high street stores and restaurants nationwide, and online with participating retailers.
