Access Sport has supported the development of disability inclusive basketball since 2018 and in 2021 we partnered with Basketball England to launch Hoopz Basketball, a grassroots disability inclusion offer for community clubs.

Our mission is to support all basketball clubs to be disability inclusive and to change the sport of basketball for good so that everyone has the opportunity to play the sport they love in a fun, inclusive and accessible environment.

Since launching, we have supported the development of Hoopz sections at five clubs, providing regular sessions to over 100 disabled children and young people and we are working with Basketball England to upskill and empower as many clubs as possible to be disability inclusive over the next 12 months.

We support basketball clubs to establish and launch their own Hoopz section, providing them with the tools and resources they need to become truly inclusive of disabled children and young people. We provide access to funding, upskill coaches and volunteers through our Disability Inclusion Training and connect our clubs with other Hoopz specialists across the country to share knowledge and experience across our Inclusive Club Network. We also work directly with Basketball England to promote sustainable and long-term change within basketball.
