If you're not keeping score, you're just practising!

In 2021 Access Sport launched their Club Inclusion Tool, a data tool that helps clubs report and understand their progress towards making their club more inclusive.

Now through the Inclusive Club Network we are opening up the use of Club Inclusion Tool to more clubs.

Over our years of club development work we found our support with collecting and using data needed to evolve as the club developed. We noticed once clubs reach a point where their sessions are running sustainably, it’s often harder for clubs to keep track of how their club was becoming more inclusive.

The Club Inclusion tool provides useful data to understand a club’s membership. This can help clubs evidence who they are engaging and their progress on making their club inclusive to range of people including funders.

The tool is also designed to make ongoing monitoring as simple as possible. You complete the form and all the data analysis is done for you.

The tool comprises of two steps:

  1. a form where clubs enter their data
  2. a visual report that benchmarks club data against national datasets and tracks change over time

In step one, the Club Inclusion Tool collects data through a simple online form that takes no more than 10 minutes to complete. In the simple form, we ask clubs to provide an estimate or actual (if you already collect this) of participant numbers for one week’s worth of activity.

The data we ask clubs to provide is:

  • Club information – name and club postcode
  • Participant Numbers – club membership number and number of participants that attended on a specified week.
  • Gender - of participants that attended on a specified week
  • Ethnicity - number of white or ethnically diverse participants that attended on a specified week
  • Disability - number of disabled participants that attended on a specified week

In step two, your data is turned into a visual report. Once you’ve submitted the form (in step one) your data gets analysed in a visual report using software called Microsoft Power BI.

The visual report will allow clubs to view their data, track changes over time and compare to local area data from the census.
