At Access Sport, the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people is at the heart of everything we do.

We have a legal and moral responsibility to provide a safe environment and a robust duty of care, protecting every child and young person from abuse, neglect, and poor practice, on any grounds.

Our Safeguarding Approach

We are committed to building a culture where children and young people feel safe, respected, empowered, and heard. Our safeguarding is not a standalone policy, it's embedded in the way we operate across every programme, partnership, and setting.

Key elements of our safeguarding culture:

  • Codes of conduct: All staff, volunteers, and partners follow clear standards of behaviour that promote safety, respect, and wellbeing.

  • Low-level concern reporting: We encourage early reporting of any concern, however minor.

  • Empowering children and young people: We promote children’s rights, ensure they understand how to speak up, and create environments where they feel confident to do so.

  • Supervision and support: Staff and volunteers receive access to safeguarding training, peer support, and reflective spaces to support good judgement.

  • Safer environments: All sessions are risk assessed and planned with safe ratios, inclusive practice, and structured routines.

  • Continuous learning: Safeguarding is a shared, evolving responsibility. We review incidents, adapt to emerging risks, and regularly update training, procedures, and policies.

How to Report a Safeguarding Concern
