Hi, I’m Basel

Before I found Access Sport, I had never felt like I belonged at a sports session.

First, I joined an inclusive tennis festival near my house! Then, at the event, I found out about Bristol Penguins – a local swimming club

Not long after, I joined the inclusive Learn-to-Swim session. From the moment I jumped in, I felt welcome, not judged, just supported to enjoy the water and improve.

The instructors really understand kids like me. They take the time to show me what to do, help me feel safe, and cheer when I succeed. That’s a big deal. My confidence in the water has grown, and I’ve even started trying tennis, another sport I never thought I could do. Now I’m learning new skills all the time.

I come to these sessions, I laugh, I make friends and every week, I feel more proud of what I’ve achieved. The coaches don’t just teach sports, they help me grow as a person. I feel stronger and happier.

Swimming has given me more than just fitness. It's helped me feel part of a team, made me believe in myself, and shown me that sport is for everyone, including me.
