Taking on the role of Chair of Access Sport’s National Youth Board, Kayla shares her ambitions for the future and her vision for strengthening youth voice across the charity.

Building on the work of former Chair, Shane McCullough, and Board members, she is passionate about ensuring that young people continue to play an active role in shaping Access Sport’s future, driving positive change across the sport sector.

I am incredibly excited to have been elected Chair of the National Youth Board, and I am looking forward to seeing the Board continue to grow and develop over the next two years.

The Board has already begun exploring new projects, building connections across the sector and identifying shared interests where we can make the greatest impact. We have also been involved in Access Sport projects in a meaningful way, demonstrating the value of genuine co-design, and we are looking forward to contributing to important discussions around facilities and wider participation.

Looking ahead, a key priority will be strengthening links with other youth voice groups across Access Sport, including regional youth voice groups and the Disabled Teenage Girls Panel. The focus on youth voice within Access Sport is continuing to grow, and it is inspiring to be part of that journey.

As a Board, we bring together a wide range of skills, experiences and perspectives from across sport. I am excited about the opportunity not only to contribute to Access Sport’s work, but also to drive forward our own projects and priorities as a National Youth Board. I believe we have the potential to make a real difference, ensuring that young people’s voices are heard and that sport becomes more inclusive and accessible for everyone.

I am looking forward to working alongside the Vice Chair and Board members over the coming years and building on the fantastic foundations that have already been laid. Together, I am confident that we can continue to create meaningful change and help shape the future of Access Sport.
