This year’s EHF Euro ParaHockey Championships will take place in August at the Royal Victory Hockey Club and at Wilrijkse Plein in Antwerp, Belgium, alongside the main EuroHockey Championships.

In 2017, Midland Mencap Flyerz won gold for England in their division at the Euro ParaHockey Championships in Amsterdam.  Building upon their success, Access Sport and England Hockey are delighted to announce that this year a multi-club Flyerz team will be representing England at this biennial championship. Midland Mencap created an opportunity for incredible visibility and showcased the depth of opportunities that Flyerz provides players to play at every level, from grassroots to international competition.  The team inspired so many individuals and clubs to get involved with Flyerz and this growth has enabled us to enter our first combined team, comprised of players from three Flyerz clubs including Forest Flyerz, Midland Mencap and Tunbridge Wells.

A squad of 12 players have been selected to represent the ParaHockey team from England in Antwerp this summer.  We are thrilled to announce the players selected are as follows (with the final place still to be confirmed):

  1. Reece Brackpool, Midland Mencap
  2. Seb Brooks, Tunbridge Wells
  3. Jerome Browne, Midland Mencap
  4. Jordan Chandler, Midland Mencap
  5. Tim Cooney, Tunbridge Wells
  6. Frazer Hare, Tunbridge Wells
  7. Matthew Lane, Midland Mencap
  8. Skye Macro, Tunbridge Wells
  9. Bryn Owen Jones, Midland Mencap
  10. Travis Porter, Forest Flyerz
  11. Ben Twells, Midland Mencap
  12. TBC

The coaching team will be led by Steve Bradley from Midland Mencap along with Francis Bridgeman from Tunbridge Wells Flyerz.

Flyerz Ambassadors Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh commented on the squad announcement: “Congratulations to all selected for Team England Flyerz. It is great to see the continued growth of Flyerz and therefore the number of clubs being represented. We wish you all well for the championships and look forward to seeing you there.”
