Access Sport Brings its Inclusive Training Offer to Surrey! This partnership with Active Surrey will have a long term, tangible impact on disabled and disadvantaged young people across the county! Access Sport is running free disability and neurodivergence inclusion training for the county’s community sport clubs, coaches and volunteers. Through these trainings, we are upskilling Surrey’s community sport workforce so that they have the confidence to create new inclusive offers, where they didn’t previously exist. With these new skills, individuals working and volunteering across Surrey will be able to create more inclusive environments and engage new disabled and neurodivergent young people, opening them up to the life-changing benefits of belonging to a community sport club. These interactive training sessions explore how you can be more inclusive of disabled and neurodivergent participants in community sport setting. At Access Sport, we believe that all sport can be adapted to meet the needs of any participant. We're excited to be working with Active Surrey to bring this offer to Surrey. By attending our training sessions, you will gain practical knowledge, learn about real-life experiences and explore innovative ideas for being more inclusive in your offer. Jayde Ellis, Inclusive Training Lead at Access Sport, said: “The expansion of Access Sport’s training offer to Surrey means we can upskill hundreds of coaches and volunteers to be more inclusive in their delivery. This is an important step for Surrey’s community sport space. I’m excited to get started! Working together with Access Sport, clubs and providers across will become sector leaders in creating inclusive sporting environments” Helen Rowbotham, CEO at Access Sport, said: “Access to community sport can be life changing for disabled and neurodivergent children and young people so we are excited to be working in partnership with Active Surrey and Surrey County Council to offer inclusion training across the County. Working with local clubs, coaches and volunteers, this is an important step towards making inclusion the norm in community sport across Surrey.” Throughout February and March, there is a schedule of Disability Inclusion Training sessions running in community sport settings across Surrey, and Neurodivergence Inclusion Trainings running online.
