Last week, Access Sport was joined by 70 influential guests at a networking event in Bristol – An Evening with Access Sport.

Local partners, friends and connections joined us at Origin Workspace for an inspiring evening that celebrated our work with disadvantaged and disabled young people in the area.

Our guests were treated to several inspiring stories from local community sports clubs and had the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals. It was a terrific evening and a brilliant opportunity to discuss the transformational power of community sport.

After enjoying some drinks and locally sourced food, the evening culminated in an expert panel made up of local Bristol-based community leaders, including:

  • Saeed Esmaeli, Coach and Founder of Wrestling for anyBODY
  • Guy Fishbourne, Sport and Physical Activity Development Manager at Bristol City Council
  • Heidi Blunden, Cycling Development Manager at Access Sport
  • Danny Kites, Head Coach and Chairperson of Bristol Indoor Bowling Club.

Key learnings from the panel included:

  • Collaboration is key when it comes to creating impactful community sports programmes
  • Sport must be welcoming, fun and adaptable for anyone
  • There is a lot of work to do to support Bristol's most disadvantaged communities.

There were also lots of discussions throughout the evening about how organisations can partner with Access Sport to make a tangible difference in the local community.

With lots of passion for inclusion in the room, we are confident going forward that we can grow our impact on underserved young people in Bristol.

Thank you to our corporate partner, Origin Workspace, for hosting the event. Also, to our guests for taking the time to attend.
