Building Stronger Communities Roadshow Our Inclusive Club Network has been touring the UK, meeting inclusive sports clubs to celebrate the power of community and sense of belonging. Taking place in London, Manchester and Bristol, these events brought inclusive sports clubs together to network and to hear more about our latest project, Building Stronger Communities. Written by Shana Lord, Inclusive Club Network Manager: Kicking off the roadshow in London, Kelly and I were blown away by the range of sports that were represented at this event. We heard from cycling and Zumba coaches to skateboarders and judo players; all with the common goal of making their sport more inclusive. “It was great to speak with other clubs and share ideas on how we can best support our members” - Charlie, Kimber Skatepark Next stop... Manchester! We hosted the second roadshow event in the impressive University Academy 92, bringing together clubs and partners from across Greater Manchester. It was great to connect our Inclusive Club Network members with local partners such as Street Games and GM Moving – these connections will help community clubs continue to develop their inclusive offer. “The presentation was really informative and engaging and the opportunity to meet your staff face to face and network with other clubs was invaluable!” - Suzanne, Metro Judo And finally, we travelled to Bristol for the last night of the roadshow. And where better to host this final event than the incredible Imperial Sports Ground! Surrounded by fields, football pitches and community spaces, this venue was the perfect place to celebrate community sport in Bristol. After contributing to the original research, both Bristol Inclusive Climbing and Bristol Indoor Bowls were in attendance, sharing their experiences and learnings with other clubs and organisations in the room. “The research confirmed our weekly observations on the courts and having this data to support our findings is beneficial as we aim to sustain our programme in the future.” - Jessica, Bath University These events were an opportunity for us to say thank you to the clubs in the network for their continued support and incredible work across the UK. Through interactive workshops, we were able to gather feedback on the Building Stronger Communities playbook and now we plan to expand the information provided in the playbook using the ideas and experiences of the Inclusive Club Network. Thank you to all the clubs, Bath University and the venues that hosted us for these events. We look forward to seeing you at another Inclusive Club Network event in the future!
