Who Are Access Sport? A Little Reminder… We train, equip and support community sports clubs, organisations, coaches and volunteers to provide inclusive sport and physical activity, unleashing their potential to change the lives of underserved young people. Access Sport was formed in 2004. Over that time, we have grown organically working across several places, sports and projects. In January 2022, we announced the appointment of Helen Rowbotham as our new Chief Executive. Later that year we launched an ambitious Growth Strategy which has led to our team almost doubling, new partnerships, new areas of work and a renewed conviction that we can make inclusion the norm in community sport. We've grown and we are aware that as an organisation we do lots of different things. So, to make everything crystal clear, we have launched a new film to remind our supporters of the life-changing work we do every day. Our Vision We want to make a world where every young person can access the life changing benefits of sport - improving their physical and mental wellbeing, building confidence, and creating a real sense of belonging and connection. Through long-term partnerships, we tackle the barriers that prevent young people from taking part and help community sport become more welcoming and accessible for all. Here’s how we do it. Changing Places We work within communities to co-create new, inclusive offers where they currently don’t exist. Our team supports local people and organisations to engage undeserved young people and create positive change through sport. Changing SportsWe work with national governing bodies and sports organisations to develop new inclusive offers. Together, we take a social and disability first approach to put inclusion at the heart of the sport. Inclusive Club NetworkDriven by a shared objective to make inclusion the norm, the Inclusive Club Network provides long-term support to all clubs working with Access Sport through webinars, training and networking. TrainingWe train community club leaders, coaches and volunteers, as well as a wide range of sports sector organisations, to proactively create welcoming environments and put inclusion at the core of their delivery. System ChangeWe use our experience and expertise to champion tangible change across all levels of the sport. And if you’d like to see our work in action, don’t forget to watch our new About Us video for a snapshot of the communities and young people driving change across the UK.
