Workday Smashes Race to the King On Saturday, 21 June 2025, a team of 48 incredible fundraisers took on the formidable Race to the King challenge, an epic 50km walk or run through the stunning South Downs in support of Access Sport. What made this event truly special was the extraordinary commitment of Workday, who rallied their employees and partners, including CloudRock, FocusCloud, Invisors, 3Plus Consulting, Continuate and Cintriq to join the challenge and go the distance for inclusion. Under a blazing summer sun and soaring temperatures, our team faced down one of the hottest Race to the King events in recent memory. The route’s relentless hills and open countryside made the 50km even more punishing. There were blisters, sunburn, and injuries, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of amazing participants! Together, this amazing group has raised over £37,000 so far to help remove the barriers to sport faced by so many disabled and disadvantaged young people. Their collective effort will directly support inclusive community sports programmes across the country, enabling more young people to enjoy the confidence, wellbeing, and connection that sport can bring. Race to the King is Workday’s second major fundraising event for Access Sport. This relationship started in June last year when over 80 Workday cyclists rode from London to Brighton. Driven by a shared objective to get the next generation of young people active, Workday believes in our mission to make inclusion the norm and is committed to supporting us. Daniel Pell, Managing Director at Workday, who participant on the day, said:“It was hot and extremely hilly, and I was delighted to see the entire Workday ecosystem, our employees, and partners unite to raise funds and support such a meaningful cause within the community.” Helen Rowbotham, Access Sport Chief Executive, who participated on the day, commented:“Speed walking 50km on the hottest day of the year was a physical and mental challenge. Thank you to the Workday team and all their partners for joining us today and supporting Access Sport. Fundraising events like this one are so important for us as a charity, so we’re really grateful!” We are beyond grateful to everyone who took part, and especially to Workday and their partners for championing this cause with such passion.
