Access Sport Expands its Training and Learning Offer We want to create a knowledgeable and confident community sport workforce that proactively creates inclusive community sport environments Access Sport has today announced an expansion of our training offer to support the community sport workforce to put inclusivity at the core of their delivery. This expansion builds on years of training that has seen us upskill a range of individuals, sport clubs, organisations, and national governing bodies. This expanded offer extends the reach of our training so that more coaches, volunteers, young leaders and sport organisations feel confident when delivering activities for disabled and disadvantaged young people. Having provided training to the sport sector and beyond for over 10 years, we want to create a knowledgeable and confident community sport workforce that proactively creates inclusive community sport environments. Traditionally, community sport has struggled to engage with disadvantaged and disabled young people. Understandably, sport organisations, coaches, volunteers and young leaders are not typically experts in social and disability inclusion and often don’t have the tools to work with these young people. To tackle this challenge these groups are increasingly realising the need to work with expert organisations. Our team, who are widely recognised as leading experts in social and disability inclusion, have recognised this gap and are actively working across the community sport space to create more inclusive offers. The offer currently focuses on: Disability Inclusion Neurodivergence Inclusion Young Leaders. By attending our training and learning sessions, you will gain practical knowledge, learn about real-life experiences and explore innovative ideas for being more inclusive in your offer. Edgar Herridge, English Cricket Board National Disability Cricket Manager, said: “Access Sport’s Disability Inclusion Training is a fantastic course that will help coaches, officials and other volunteers in the game to feel more confident and to increase the accessibility of their cricket offer." Jayde Ellis, Inclusive Training Lead at Access Sport, said: “The expansion of Access Sport’s training and learning offer means we can upskill more of the community sport workforce to be inclusive in their delivery. This is a crucial step for the sector as we move towards engaging more disabled and disadvantaged young people. I encourage community sport club, individuals, young leaders and sport organisations to get in touch. Together we can make inclusion the norm!” The delivery is flexible depending on the need and can be: In-person or virtual Bitesize learning sessions – one hour Workshops – two hours Half-day training – three hours Bespoke delivery for your organisation, club or network.
