Our Work Changing Sports Swimming Help us get disabled and disadvantaged young people swimmingFind out more > Access Sport has worked with community swim providers and pool operators since 2022 to increase the number of disabled young people learning to swim. Through our swimming programme, we provide funding, equipment and inclusion expertise to swim providers and pool operators so they can start new inclusive sessions. We want to use this terrific sport to make a positive difference in young people’s lives and have plans to scale this work across the country. Moving forward we want to ensure that all disabled young people get the opportunity to learn this important life skill. What is it?Changing Sports swimming supports clubs and pool operators to deliver new disability inclusive activities and ensure their whole club or venue is inclusive, accessible and welcoming. It is run by Access Sport and delivered by community clubs or pool operators. Who is it for?The work focuses on supporting disabled young people aged 5-25, as well as those with long-term health conditions. Every pool or club has a bespoke offer suited to their community's needs, developed with our team's support. How does it work?We empower, upskill and support clubs, pool operators, instructors and volunteers to deliver new disability-inclusive activities. Our participants learn to swim in a fun, non-competitive, non-judgemental and community environment. We also work closely with Swim England and the Children’s Alliance (Water Babies) to promote system wide change across swimming We recognise the work that has already happened in the inclusive swimming space. We, therefore, want to collaborate with individuals, clubs and organisations that share our commitment to inclusion. To get involved please complete the form below and we will be in touch.
